How Jorbox actually runs.
This is the operating manual for Jorbox LLC — a record of how the company actually works, what we believe, and the real decisions fourteen years of running it has driven. Four chapters, written in plain English, kept current.
Most companies our age have a press kit but no handbook. We do it the other way around — the handbook is the thing we point people at when they want to understand the company. The four chapters below cover what we think a careful reader should know.
- 01
The story
Fourteen years from a one-person shop in Albuquerque to a portfolio of five SaaS brands. The inflection points and what they taught us.
- 02
Our principles
Four operating rules — build things to last, no outside money, own the whole stack, plain language — and the real decisions each one has driven.
- 03
How we work
How we decide what to build, how we ship, how we support customers, how the five brands relate. The operating model in plain English.
- 04
Founder's letter
A long-form note from Ahmad on why Jorbox is shaped the way it is, what fourteen years of running it has taught him, and what comes next.
Last reviewed 2026-05-16. The handbook is updated when something real changes — a new principle, a different operating choice, a milestone worth recording. Stale handbook entries get the dates refreshed and the body rewritten.
About the handbook
- 01
A plain-English operating manual for Jorbox LLC — four chapters covering the company story, operating principles, how the team works day-to-day, and an extended founder letter. It is the canonical reference for how an independent product company in Albuquerque has stayed running since 2012, written for journalists, prospective hires, prospective clients, and curious customers.

Build things to last, no outside money, own the whole stack, plain language. Each is described with real decisions it has driven over fourteen years — not as marketing copy. Full chapter at /handbook/principles. The same four principles are also published as the Jorbox pledge at /pledge.

Most companies our age have a press kit but no handbook. We do it the other way around — the handbook is the durable reference, the press kit (if anyone asks) is generated from it. Publishing the handbook publicly also keeps us honest: it's hard to drift from a principle that's written down where anyone can read it.

It's updated when something real changes — a new principle, a different operating choice, a milestone worth recording. Stale entries get the dates refreshed and the body rewritten. We don't do calendar-driven busywork on the handbook just to keep the `dateModified` recent.

Yes — every chapter is published under our standard terms (linkable, quotable, attribution appreciated). For substantial verbatim quotation, drop a note via /contact-us and we'll send a press-friendly version with quotable pull-quotes already extracted.

The founder writes the founder's letter chapter; the rest is written collectively by the team and edited by the founder. We name authors in /blog posts; the handbook is treated as a company artifact, not individual authorship.
